Valentino Rossi masih akan melanjutkan "eksperimennya" terhadap Ducati GP11.1, yang akan digunakan pada GP Jerman akhir pekan ini di Sirkuit Sachsenring. "The Doctor" terus berusaha memperbaiki dan menyempurnakan pengesetan motor tersebut, sambil berharap bisa mengakhiri rangkaian performa buruk Ducati sejak awal musim 2011.
Kami berharap cuaca dan suhu akan baik karena kami perlu bekerja pada pengesetan sebanyak mungkin sebelum balapan.

Sementara untuk sesi kualifikasi, hasil terbaik mantan pebalap Honda dan Yamaha ini adalah start dari urutan tujuh—artinya, di belakang grid ketiga. Bahkan, pada tiga balapan terakhir, pebalap berusia 33 tahun ini gagal menembus posisi 10 besar.
Sebenarnya Rossi dan Ducati sudah berupaya meminimalisasi kelemahan yang mereka hadapi. Pengenalan GP11.1 di Sirkuit Assen, Belanda, diharapkan bisa menjadi solusi. Ternyata, harapan tersebut tak sepenuhnya terwujud karena hanya bersifat "semu".
Ya, dalam debutnya, GP11.1 sempat memberikan sinyal bakal lebih kompetitif karena di Assen, Rossi sempat tampil dominan di sesi latihan meskipun terpuruk di urutan 11 saat kualifikasi. Pasalnya, dalam balapan yang dimenangkan pebalap Yamaha, Ben Spies, dia mampu finis di urutan empat. Tetapi, di Mugello, Rossi gagal mempertajam hasil yang sudah diraih di Assen karena dia finis di urutan enam.
"Di Mugello, kami mulai bekerja dengan pengesetan ke arah yang tak pernah kami coba sebelumnya," ujar Rossi, yang lima kali memenangi balapan di Sachsenring. "Kami menggunakannya pada sesi pemanasan hari Minggu sehingga kami tidak bisa menghabiskan banyak waktu untuk itu. Motor bekerja dengan lebih baik saat balapan dibandingkan dengan apa yang kami raih saat latihan, tetapi kami perlu melakukan eksperimen lagi dengan pengesetan ini."
"Di Sachsenring, kami akan melihat apakah mereka mungkin bagus pada titik awal. Trek ini sulit di beberapa tempat, tetapi merupakan sirkuit yang saya suka. Tahun lalu, saya kembali ke balapan di Jerman setelah mengalami cedera pada kaki, dan itu adalah balapan yang bagus. Kami berharap cuaca dan suhu akan baik karena kami perlu bekerja pada pengesetan sebanyak mungkin sebelum balapan."

JAKARTA, Kompas.com — Salah satu pahlawan bulu tangkis Indonesia masa lalu, Hadibowo Sutanto, meninggal dunia akibat sakit kanker hati di RS Medistra, Jakarta, Selasa (7/6/2011) siang.Hadibowo Sutanto meninggal dunia dalam usia 53 tahun setelah menjalani perawatan beberapa hari, sejak Sabtu lalu. Sebelumnya, sejak Januari silam ia sempat bolak balik ke Singapura untuk menjalani pengobatan.
Kelahiran Tegal, 4 Juni 1958, Hadibowo menjadi pahlawan saat menjadi bagian dari tim Indoensia saat merebut Piala Thomas 1984 di Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Ketika itu berpasangan dengan Christian Hadinata, Hadibowo mengantar Indonesia merebut Piala Thomas dengan mengalahkan China 3-2.
Pasangan Christian/Hadibowo menjadi penyelemat tim Indonesia yang saat itu tertinggal 1-2. China memperoleh poin melalui Luan Jin dan Yang Yang yang mengalahkan Liem Swie King dan Icuk Sugiarto. Sementara Indonesia memperoleh satu poin melalui Hastomo Arbi. Pasangan Christian/Hadibowo kemudian berhasil merebut satu poin buat Indonesia dengan mengalahkan pasangan China He Shangquan/Jiang Guoliang 18-14 15-10.
Selama kariernya, Hadibowo pernah berganti pasangan antara lain dengan Christian Hadinata, Liem Swie King, Kartono Hariatmanto, Bobby Ertanto, dan Heryanto Saputra. Bulan lalu, Hadibowo memperoleh penghargaan bersama Liem Swie King sebagai ganda putra legendaris Indonesia yang diberikan oleh Candra Wijaya.
Hingga akhir hayatnya, Hadibowo menjadi anggota staf di PB Djarum, klub yang dibelanya di masa jayanya sebagai pemain
Pebalap Repsol Honda, Dani Pedrosa, yang akan start dari posisi kedua, merasa kondisinya masih lemah setelah menjalani kualifikasi GP Jerman.
Pebalap Yamaha, Jorge Lorenzo, memprediksikan bahwa GP Jerman akhir pekan ini akan berlangsung ketat karena jarak antarpebalap dekat.
